Bahamas Conservation Connection
Bahamas Conservation Connection (BCC) was founded in April 2022. BCC was established with the main purpose of connecting conservation and sustainability practitioners, enabling peer/ mentorship connections, and ultimately enabling the sector to have a greater impact at scale. The aim of BCC is to address gaps between different conservation organizations, conservationists, practitioners, and members of the public who are interested in supporting conservation efforts (as well as sustainability-minded businesses/corporations). I have worked in this specific sector for multiple years and in multiple organizations (international and local).
BCC seeks to be the connective tissue of the sector to create the “conservation community”. This community will be empowered to have a stronger voice with scientifically sound opinions, activating grassroots and grasstop advocates to address local and regional conservation challenges. As a young professional, I was not aware of the opportunities that existed for academic and experiential learning. BCC will bring awareness to the local environmental community as a whole. BCC will also act as a conduit to local and international internships, job and volunteerism opportunities, promote access to relevant scholarships, and establish a robust and structured mentorship program with veteran practitioners for early career professionals and students.
